05 / GTM Strategy
Decide where to play before spending anything on activity.
Segmentation, ICP, positioning, messaging and the architecture of the system that will carry them.
Clarafold's GTM Strategy service is a fixed strategy sprint that defines where a B2B company should compete and how to win there: market segmentation, ideal customer profile (ICP), positioning, messaging architecture, the design of the GTM system that will carry them, and the measures used to judge results.
Delivery model: Strategy Sprint
Get StartedThe Problem
Define where to play, who to target, what to say and how to build the system around it.
Most GTM plans are a channel list with a budget attached. That produces motion, not direction. The expensive mistakes happen upstream: the wrong segment, an unclear category, a message that describes the product instead of the buyer's problem.
How It Works
What we actually do.
Segment before targeting
Not all of the addressable market is worth addressing. Segmentation decides where effort earns the most.
Position against the alternative
Positioning is relative. We define what you are chosen instead of, and why that choice makes sense.
Build the messaging architecture
One claim, supporting claims, and the evidence each one requires — so every channel says a consistent thing.
Define how it gets measured
Success measures are agreed before execution, so results can be evaluated rather than argued about.
Capabilities
What's included.
Tooling categories: DataAnalyticsAI
- Market segmentation
- ICP
- Positioning
- Messaging
- GTM architecture
- Demand strategy
- Campaign strategy
- Sales alignment
- Channel strategy
- Measurement framework
Example Workflow
ICP Research Workflow
Researches a target segment, identifies decision-makers and structures account intelligence into a reusable profile.
- Pull the evidence. Export closed-won, closed-lost and stalled deals. The ICP is a pattern in data you already have, not an opinion.
- Isolate the firmographics. Size, sector, geography, tech stack and business model of accounts that closed well and renewed.
- Find the behavioural markers. What was happening at the account when it bought. Triggers matter more than attributes.
- Map the buying committee. Who initiated, who evaluated, who signed, who blocked — by role, not by name.
Outputs
What you end up with.
- Segmentation and prioritisation
- ICP definition and tiering
- Positioning and messaging architecture
- GTM system architecture
- Demand and campaign strategy
- Measurement framework
FAQ
Questions buyers ask.
What is a go-to-market (GTM) strategy?
A go-to-market strategy is the plan for how a company reaches and wins its customers: which segments to target, which buyers within them, what the company is positioned against, what it says, through which channels, and how success is measured.
What is an ideal customer profile (ICP)?
An ideal customer profile describes the type of company most likely to buy, succeed and stay — defined by firmographics (size, sector, geography, business model), behavioural markers and the specific problem it has. A useful ICP also states who to exclude.
What does the strategy sprint produce?
Segmentation and prioritisation, an ICP definition with tiers, a positioning and messaging architecture, a GTM system architecture, a demand and campaign strategy, and a measurement framework — documented so execution teams can use them directly.
Does Clarafold also execute the strategy?
Yes. The strategy can be executed through Clarafold's LinkedIn Content, Automated Outbound, RevOps and ABM services, or handed over to an in-house team with the documentation to run it.
